My principle and element I reached in this piece was negative space, texture and color. I brought these elements out in a snake to portray one of my biggest fears. I don't like snakes at all and I figured since its not my favorite thing in the world I would bring my emotion and color to it.
This is a self portrait using acrylic paint. I loved this piece because I got to bring out color and my personality. This picture really conveys who I am because it shows colors to show my outgoing personality and the mountains to show my favorite place on earth.
This is my first ever landscape water color piece. It was one of my harder pieces because I wasn't sure what to paint or even go about working with water color paint. I learned through this experience to work fast and be patient to really convey that water color effect. One thing I would've done differently is the amount of pigment I used. I would like it to be less pigmented and show more dimension.
This is the first still life I've ever done. It was painted with black and white acrylic paint. I chose this image because I liked the way the items complimented each other. One thing I would've done different is that my bottle not be in the center and blend my bottle out more to bring better realism to the piece itself.

My name is Maddie Burke and this is my advanced painting portofolio. I am a Senior at Mead High School and thoroughly enjoy painting. It is something I thrive at and recently discovered my sophomore year of high school. My grandma was a painter also, therefore I must get it from her. I love painting because it calms me and brings out a piece of work I didn't think I had in me. Throughout this website, you will experience many pieces of work I have done throughout the semester! Enjoy!
